Today, 20 of October 2021, Neogames Finland became a member of the Playing for the Planet Alliance initiative, a collective effort by the gaming industry to decarbonise the industry and integrate environmental activations into their games.
In joining the Playing for the Alliance, game companies have made commitments ranging from integrating green activations in games, reducing their emissions and supporting the global environmental agenda.
As part of our commitment, Neogames Finland agrees to undertake the following initiatives within the next twelve months, including
- Cutting unnecessary travelling and compensating the emissions from necessary business travels.
- Build a road map for the Finnish Game Industry to reach lower emissions. Neogames will support the companies in their attempt to estimate their carbon dioxide emissions, including the emissions from playing the games, and to compensate the emissions that can’t be cut at the moment. Neogames aims to have a road map and support measures ready during the spring 2022.
- Support and promote Pelimetsä project that protects old Finnish forests. Protection of these forests prevents further carbon dioxide emissions.
Other members of the Alliance include the likes of Supercell, Rovio and EGDF and an outline of the commitments that have been made to the Alliance can be viewed at the Alliance website here.
Since the Playing for the Planet initiative was launched in September 2019, the Alliance has supported its members to reduce their carbon footprint and to integrate authentic green activations on games with existing player bases through Green Game Jams. Neogames is happy to support Playing for the Planet in the future Green Game Jams.
