Master’s Degree Programme in Game Studies
The Master’s Programme in Game Studies is a two-year interdisciplinary course focusing on the theory and research of games and game cultures. Studies focus on various approaches to games and gameplay. In addition to theoretical depth, there is a strong practical aspect in the programme, which is established through game projects and an internship. The programme prepares students for careers requiring a profound understanding of games and the ability to engage in games and gameplay related research.

The Faculty of Information Technology offers two Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees where a student can specialize in game development via game projects and optional studies.

Study Module in Game Research and Game Design
Study module introduces students to the multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral field of digital game research and design. It prepares students to understand the core areas of game research and key aspects of game design, as well as to apply their skills in the interpretation and design of games. The module is open to all degree students of the University of Jyväskylä.
